Alice in Wonderland

Is it weird that I'm beyond excited for Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland? While I'm not the biggest Tim Burton fan (Nightmare Before Christmas still gives me nightmares...) I think that he'll do an awesome job on this movie. I've always been a fan of this book and I like many quotes from it, and I love the Cheshire Cat for some reason. I had a poster that was this conversation that I like between Alice and the Cheshire cat.

"But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Cat: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."
Alice went on, "Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to," said the Cat.
"I don't much care where--" said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the Cat.
"--so long as I get SOMEWHERE," Alice added as an explanation.
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."

The Winner Stands Alone

Well when I'm not extremely busy watching my shows and wasting away, I read. I used to read a lot more but I swear there just haven't been enough good authors out there lately. I'm weird with what I read, I don't really like "girly" books. I've read my fair share of those Jodi Picoult and Something Borrowed type books, but I usually just feel dead inside afterwards. Some of my favorite authors are Dan Brown, Elizabeth Gilbert, J. Maarten Troost and of course Paulo Coelho. I will read anything that will take me somewhere far away, or someone who actually has interesting/intellectual things to say. I started off by reading The Alchemist years ago and of course loved it. Who doesn't? That's one of the only books that I have read multiple times (aside from Roald Dahl's The BFG...when I was a kid, of course...) I've gotten through most of the Coelho books, I'm currently on Veronika Decides to Die which is also really good.
What I'm getting at here is that I read Coelho's blog, and I'm getting excited for the release of his new book The Winner Stands Alone. I guess its release date is April 7th in the US, so get ready!

You can read the Third Chapter here if you're interested.

Two down two to go...

So I finished New Moon a couple days ago already. Now I am patiently waiting on Amazon to deliver the last 2 books in the series! I am also trying to get my roommates into the series as well (its not working). I'm trying to justify my dorkiness. And I'm also sort of sad that I didn't know about the whole Robert Pattinson at Hot Topic in Orland Park thing. Ok, I probably wouldn't have gone...but I would have at least thought about it.

And I'm putting it out there that I totally have a girl crush on Kristen Stewart. I loved her ever since "In the Land of Women" partly because she was a fantastic actress and partly because she was so skinny that I wanted to be her. She reminds me of Evan Rachel Wood (pre Marilyn Manson era) who I also love.

This picture is incredible!

Twilight

Well I caved. After months of hearing about Twilight and Robert Pattinson's magical hair, I finally read the damn book. Now, in my defense the airport bookstore didn't have a great selection so it was either Nights in Rodanthe or this. I try to resist reading books that have become too popular, which is why I have yet to read any of the Harry Potters.
Anyway if you are just as in the dark as I was- Twilight is basically a love story between a teenage girl and a hot vampire. The whole vampire thing isn't portrayed as dumb and cheesy like I had thought it would be. Well much to my dismay... I am now OBSESSED. GREAT. Now I have to walk my fat ass all the way to Borders at lunch to buy the second book in the series. I literally read Twilight within a couple of hours while travelling this weekend. And now I need to find a couple other losers like me to go see the movie coming out the 21st.
