Looking forward to 2008!

*At xmas

It has been forever but I am finally posting!
2007 was an interesting year for me. Had a great last few months with Club Med- met some great kitties who I will be meeting up with in LA in a couple weeks, then was trying to figure out what to do next. Life throws things at you, you make decisions at the time and can't regret it later because you did make that decision. Ended up moving home then into the city. I got the greatest little puppy in the land and he will be ringin in the new year with his best friend Milo! I am very excited for New Years this year, which is great considering I never usually like New Years.
I am still working at Sittercity and I love it! Very excited to start the new year there and see what happens!
We went back to Canada for Xmas this year, I missed out last year because I was at Club Med :( so it was good to go back.
In 2008 I am looking forward to being with friends, concentrating on things that make me happy and just being more productive. I can't wait!
I hope that everyone has a great night tonight!!

I'm a mommy

Ok, not to a child...but a puppy!!! His name is Bruiser, and he was born July 3, 2007. I got him almost 3 weeks ago and we're in love. He is a little 1.5lb yorkie and thinks that he is a big dog. We found him in a little pet store just south of chicago. Even though I had been looking for dogs for a while, it was kind of impulsive and we didn't even have a bed for him. The first week was pretty rough. He woke up maybe 6-7 times a night and had accidents everywhere. But things have calmed down and he now comes with me to work everyday in his vera bradley dog tote. VERY sophisticated. He has a new best friend, Milo, the 6 month old maltese at work. So we are one big happy family.

Work is still great, still love it and love health insurance and paychecks! The only thing that I don't like is the stupid train to and from work everyday. Such a pain, worst transportation system i've ever seen.

Other than that, I lost my phone a couple weeks ago so send me your numbers!!

Apparently I'm really interesting...

Hey Kids,

Ok well apparently if I don't update my blog- it causes people to feel disconnected and god knows I can't have that!

So here's the latest;

I started working for this company called Sittercity.com about a month ago. Sittercity is a website that basically sets up parents with babysitters/pet sitters etc. I am the office manager here so I help out with customer service, help the CEO and keep the office in working order. There are about 22 of us and we work in River North in these awesome lofts. Everyone is super nice and the whole atmosphere is relaxed, no dress code etc. I really like it and enjoy the company is constantly growing- so its something that I can only move forward with.

If you're really bored/curious you can check out my 100 things on the sittercity website:

Jake and I have been in the greatest little apt for about a month now. We love it, its 1,000 sq feet, 3 floor brownstone, its great. Jake got a fishtank so that adds ambiance to the living room-and keeps him occupied. We also find out that we can have small dogs in the apt. There is also a teacup maltese at work that has forced me into being obsessed with the idea of a teacup dog. So of course i can't do anything else besides obsess over the idea. I went to pocket puppies last week and will continue to go until I leave with a dog. I found an adorable little yorkie that I wanted.... however it seems as though I can't afford a $2,100 dog just yet...?

I am very excited for the Iowa game this weekend!!! Should be good times, I just hope that I make it home in one piece.

Other than that, I am getting used to the idea of having a permanent job! I am also extremely excited to have actual health insurance beginning the 1st of sept.

Keep me updated on your lives~!!

Sweet home Chicago...

Ok friends,

So, a lot has changed over the past few weeks. Jake and I were supposed to leave yesterday for Asia. Long story short a couple weeks ago we decided that it just wasn't the best idea. So after a lot of stress and not really knowing what we were going to do next, Jake decided to move to Chicago. He has been here about a week and a half and we are both job searching. We are also moving to the city together and found a place in Lincoln Park which we love and hopefully everything will go through.

Yes, well a lot has changed but I think things are finally settling down. The real problem is trying to find a job. I've been on a couple interviews so far. One looked good but in the end it was in oak brook and I would have to commute which would mean I would need to buy a car, and the salary was less than I could afford.

I will keep everyone updated on the job search and apartment process. Hopefully, we might be moving around the 24th of July!!

I want to be on the "D" list!

I've always been obsessed with Kathy Griffin. She's hilarious, however, i'm pretty sure that she stole my life. I would love nothing more than to make fun of celebrities and have my entire existence to be a joke. I was super bummed last year when I heard about her divorce with Matt. I really thought that they were good together. But I am glad that she's doing alright and is still hilarious.

Also, I just saw the movie Apocalypto. ... ... right so i'm a little rusty on my Mayan history and I'm still not really even sure what exactly went on but I know it was violent and also a comedy? I enjoyed the part where the main prisoner guy bashes his assailant in the head with a club and left his head squirting blood in waves out of his head. It was a little excessive and dramatic...and therefore funny. This main guy went through: almost getting beheaded but is saved by the lunar eclipse, then gets an arrow through the abdomen while trying to escape, outruns a jaguar, jumps off a waterfall just missing the jagged rocks underneath, almost drowns in quicksand but pulls himself out, then gets another arrow in the chest.... Meanwhile his poor wife is stuck in a deep hole with their child while the rain is quickly flooding the hole...and she GIVES BIRTH balancing on a rock with her son on her shoulders. Ok so I thought I had bad days. You should see it. good times.

Sushi Worm

So I'm in Rochester visiting Jake. So the first night I was here, Jake wanted to go to some BBQ place for dinner, I on the other hand demanded sushi. So we go to this place that Jake likes because it once offered all you can eat sushi. I was immediately concerned with the fact that I didn't see one asian working at the sushi restaurant. So we ordered this big plate of sushi and I was starving to death. So it comes and we eat a few pieces the I begin to examine this one piece of sashimi. It was like yellow tail or red snapper or something, so a lighter colored fish. There was this translucent small white thing on top of this piece of sashimi. After staring at it for 5 minutes I noticed that it was MOVING. So NOT normal. I made jake look at it so I wasn't the only crazy person in the room. It was bizarre...and disgusting. So that was the end of the sushi and i'm pretty sure the waitress thought that we were insane. But at least I dont need to eat sushi for a while. Anyways, good story.

Is everyone engaged?!

So I'm sitting at home, minding my own business... and by minding my own business, I mean STALKING facebook. When the fabulous Facebook News feed pops up and I see that my friend from High school and ex boyfriend of best friend is engaged! Now, of course this is great and exciting for them, but it just gets me stressed out!

With my free time I have been productively studying how many people I know are engaged and or married. Now I have only been to one friends wedding thus far, which isn't bad. I just don't understand how it works. Do you get engaged right out of college then find a place to live, get a job, AND try to plan a wedding? Do you have a 3 year engagement? Or date for 2 years, live together and then get engaged? Whats the process here? And whats with the people still in undergrad who are married? "Hi study group, I made muffins. Have we figured out how WWI started yet? My husband should be here shortly with the milk." I guess I don't understand the rush, why can't you wait a couple years until you're settled? I have two good friends who have been dating since high school, and are both out of college, both have jobs and aren't rushing into getting engaged. I like that!

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those people who says that they don't want to get married until they're 35 and have kids at 40. Definitely not. If I'm 30 and not married, BEWARE. I will not be stable.

Let's get down to the real problem here...I have too much time on my hands and facebook is simply feeding my serious addiction to gossip. Someone contact A&E immediately! I'll even pretend like I don't know what the show is about.

I leave Thursday for Rochester for a week or so. Very excited about that!

Good news: I got my giant backpack for traveling! Which includes a fanny pack!

Bad News: I still have no idea when my passport will come. Honestly Canada, what's the problem here?!

Love, Jen

My very first Blog!

Ok everyone, since I don't have exact details of my life, I figured a blog is fun... plus I have a lot of time on my hands.

So the original plan I had was that I planned on going to Marrakech, Morocco Club Med for the next season. I had every intention to go, but I had to wait for my passport. After being at home a couple weeks, I started thinking about if this was really what I wanted to do. I would love to go to morocco, or live there. However, I was not ready to get back into the nametag/eating with GMs, perpetually exhausted. If I was 18 again, this would be different. But getting older I've just decided that I have to do what I want to do, regardless of what other people think. On the other end there was also Jake who was planning on traveling through Asia. He invited me and after contemplating what to do for days and asking around, I decided that traveling through Asia would make me happy.

So long story short, I am STILL waiting for my passport and I'm really not even sure when exactly I will get it back. (PS I love the Canadian passport agency...). As soon as I do, we need to go to the Indian and Chinese embassy and get visas. Then we're off for a few months to travel Asia. After that... who knows?
