What exactly is this?

While walking to a derm appointment I managed walk behind this. It wasn't so much a mullet, as it was 2 hair styles. It was like a short, mom-like blonde bob and then long straight dark hair underneath. I won't judge because I did have that incident in the 6th grade when I may or may not have shaved the underneath of my hair. Let's not get into that, its still a sore subject. But I've grown, and I learned that that was not appropriate. This chick was in her 20's and should know better.

What I learned on Oprah yesterday

So yesterday Oprah had the "Stars of Country" on her show.
Now I know ill be judged for this, but I had NO idea that:
A) Hootie and the Blowfish was considered country.
B) That the lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish is NOT, in fact, named Hootie.
And that C) he is black.
Every time I pictured Hootie and the Blowfish in my mind, I'm fairly sure that I pictured The Counting Crows. And I've heard the name Darius Rucker but I had no clue who that was. Yeah, I know- I'm an idiot.
Meanwhile- can someone please explain to me the obsession that is Kenny Chesney? I enjoy his music and everything. However, not only is he maybe 4'8", but does it bother anyone else that the man is like deathly afraid of taking off his hat? He was hugging the crazy fans on Oprah while doing the reach around to hold his hat on. Who cares that you're bald under there? I'm one windy day away from being bald myself. Man up, Kenny.

Awkward moment of the day

Called ComEd to change our service...

"Hello this is Sylvia at ComEd, how can I help you?"
(while taking the phone off of speaker, I don't hear her correctly and I SWEAR that she is speaking Spanish...)
"Uhhh yeah hi... do you speak English?"
"...Yes, this is Sylvia at ComEd, how can I help you?" In the clearest english possible.
"Oh sorry, haha. I was picking up the phone and didn't hear you...ha" I then start laughing at myself, while trying to choke out the words. Sylvia thinks I'm crazy...and racist.

Cheetah girls

Eileen sent us this picture this morning and it made my day. This is an actual house in Chicago that she luckily doesn't have to sell, but was unfortunate enough to drive by this morning.

ARE you kidding me?

Oh. Thanks for that.

So I finally decided to grace the gym with my presence since I can't actually remember the last time I went there. I arrived to the chaos and quickly remembered why it is that I don't like going. I happened to be wearing the Chicago Sport and Social club t-shirt that I got somewhere for free. So while I'm trying to mount the elliptical and juggle my water, towel and iPod- one of the trainers came up to me and start a conversation about my shirt.
"Soooo what is the Sport and Social club?"
Ugh. I do not have time for this. "Oh, I have no idea- I got the shirt for free"
"Ohhh haha well I was really curious, it sounds cool"
"Yeah...welp I'm sure it is..."
"Well I'm [insert generic boy name] let me know if you ever find out."
mmmkkk. Great conversation about nothing. Good day to you.

18 minutes later, I decide that I've had enough of the elliptical and the gym. Let's be realistic, the only reason I went to the gym was to go tanning as I look like prune. I do a handful of situps and head into the locker room to grab my stuff. While walking up to the desk, I see Brian/John/Mike whatever his name was staring at me with his hands up and a fake confused look.
"What? That was like the SHORTEST workout ever!"
I debated telling him my whole life story as my excuse- how I haven't worked out in a couple months because I spend much of my free time with my new boyfriend and how I had just gotten over what could possibly have been the black lung disease last week and how work has been pretty busy and how I'm in the pre-spring funk etc.
But instead I just said: "Ha yeah, I'm over it...I have to go tanning"
He laughs and gestures towards me while getting this other trainer's attention,
"Sara, she just did like the shortest workout of all time"
Sara replies with "Haha well tanning is important!"
I awkwardly laugh and agree.
Sir. How dare you call attention to my obvious lack of self motivation. I see nothing wrong with an 18 minute "workout." Rude.

Awkward scenario of the week

So I go down to Dunkin' Donuts to grab myself a latte and a bagel. I only bring down $5 because nothing at Dunkin' should EVER cost more than that. Well APPARENTLY a latte and a bagel with cream cheese is $5.33. So I stare at her awkwardly and say "oh...can you take off the cream cheese then...I only have $5..." She replies "Oh you want me to take the whole bagel off?" "God no, I'm hungry, just the cream cheese...is that less than $5?" She fiddles around with the register and then starts speaking Spanish to the people making my bagel. Somehow I actually understand everything she's saying. Basically she was like "Alright guys, no cream cheese on that one, she doesn't have enough money...[someone replies with how much does she have?] she only has $5..." I stand there giving the side eye hoping that no one around me can understand their Spanish and see what a loser I am. The manager then comes over and basically has to give me a discount of 35 cents so that I can have cream cheese on my bagel. Which was very nice, I do enjoy charity. This is the second time this week something like this has happened to me.
Cut to Monday when I went down to the little convenience store to buy a couple packs gum and maybe a Sour Patch bag or two. The total comes to like $7 so I casually slide her my awesome debit card which I will use for any small amount...and I think its funny (I used it last week for $1.13 purchase). She awkwardly lets me know that they only take cash (who does that?) and so I have to dig through my wallet to scrape up the $6 I had in there. I had to have her take back one pack of gum so that I could afford to get out of there. Awesome.
